  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter Melted
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Cooked rice or mashed potatoes for serving

  • In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  • Slowly add chicken broth, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  • Stir in heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Add the shredded chicken and simmer for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
  • Serve over cooked rice or mashed potatoes.

Notes

Use warm butter and whisk well to avoid lumps. Taste and adjust salt and pepper at the end. For more flavor, brown the shredded chicken briefly before adding to the gravy. If the gravy is too thick, add a little more chicken broth. For a hands-off approach, try a dump-and-go crockpot method for the chicken, then make the gravy separately.
