Trader Joe’s does revoked two types of cookies after discovering they may contain rocks, the company announced last week.
The affected products are Trader Joe’s Almond Windmill Cookies and Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Chip Almond Cookies. The recall only applies to products with a specific on-sale date, including:
- Trader Joe’s Almond Windmill Cookies (SKU# 98744): Sale date from October 2, 2023 and also from October 19, 2023 to October 21, 2023.
- Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Bar and Almond Cookies: (SKU# 82752): Sale date from October 17, 2023 to October 21, 2023.
According to the press release, the company was notified by its supplier that products with these specific sell-by dates may contain stones. All affected products were pulled from shelves and destroyed, the company said. Trader Joe’s did not provide information on how the foreign material could have gotten into the downloaded cookies.
The company urges customers who have purchased or otherwise received Almond Windmill Cookies and/or Dark Chocolate Chip Almond Cookies not to eat them. Cookies should be discarded or returned to any Trader Joe’s store for a full refund.

Earlier this year, so did Trader Joe’s announced the appeal its Original Tropical Fruit Blend (SKU# 51191), due to potential contamination Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria that causes listeriosis. This recall was part of a larger frozen fruit recall that also included products from stores such as Walmart, Aldi and Target.
The recall was issued on June 21, and at that time there were no reports of illness after consuming the product. All potentially contaminated products were removed from store shelves and destroyed, the company said.
Another recall of the same fruit mix – Organic Tropical Fruit Mix (SKU# 51191) –was released on March 16 due to possible hepatitis A contamination. No illnesses were reported in connection with this recall either, and the potentially contaminated products were again recalled and destroyed.
Trader Joe’s Instant Cold Brew Coffee (SKU# 67436) was too revoked May 24due to possible glass contamination. Again, no injuries have been reported and any potentially affected products have been pulled from shelves.
