How TikTok is blurring the lines between makeshift but tasty girls dinner and fighting foods, we believe we have found the perfect combination. In an homage to the childhood favorite of pre-made frozen pizza pockets, we love the homemade version seen on the foodkidslove account. Instead of using puff pastry or regular pizza crusts, these toaster-friendly pizza pockets use regular sandwich bread as a crust. You can use any sandwich bread you have on hand – although, let’s be honest, soft white bread is king here. Grab two slices of bread of your choice, then treat them to a pizza with red sauce, shredded cheese, and any toppings you like—olives, sausage, hot peppers, jalapenos, and more are totally acceptable.
In TikTok, the video maker uses a device called a sandwich separator to remove the crust from the bread and seal the edge around the pizza. You’re basically creating a pizza filled with toppings Untrustworthy. This way you can put the homemade pizza pocket in the toaster without the pizza sauce getting everywhere. This means you can have a hot and toasty sandwich if you have access to a toaster or toaster, which can usually be found in even the most inconvenient office kitchens.

Toast your pizza pocket with almost any appliance
One of the things that makes this pizza pocket sandwich toaster friendly is that the bread is slightly flattened with a rolling pin. This makes it easier for the two slices of bread to stick together and to plug any holes that could lead to sauce or cheese spills. This is one reason you might want to use white sandwich bread here – it might be softer and easier to flatten and press together with sandwich sealer. Keep in mind that you can make this snack even if you don’t have a sandwich sealer. After you’ve flattened the bread with a rolling pin or other heavy object and filled it with the frosting, cut the crust off the bread and seal it with a fork, just like you would when pressing the crust onto a pie. Make sure the toppings are centered on the bread so they don’t come off with the crust.
If you’re nervous about the seals holding together in the vertical toaster, put this treat in the toaster, deep fryer, or panini press. You can also fry in a pan in olive oil on the stove. Pack it in your lunch just like any regular sandwich in a bag or lunch box. We do not recommend roasting it before packaging, as it will become soggy in a closed container.
