If you’re looking for a patriotic-themed treat to bring to your 4th of July picnic or dinner party, an Upstate pie shop has an offering that will have you seeing the stars and smacking your lips. Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop, 2222 August St. Greenville is offering an All-American price of $17.76 for any four of its mini pies. The special price is available until the 4th of July. The homemade dessert shop makes all of its cakes from scratch, and a love of baking shines through every slice, a skill owner Suzanne Keim says she inherited from her grandmother. The shop is so popular that it’s part of the Very Local streaming series “What’s On The Menu, Greenville?” in the episode Sweet Tooth. Another featured Greenville restaurant can be seen in the video below. Her best-selling pie is called I-40, named after the interstate that Keim calls “the good southern road.” This is a pecan pie with a twist: adding chocolate chips and coconut. Eight other pie flavors are on Buttermilk Sky’s daily pie menu, but the seasonal sweets are only available for a limited time. The Fourth of July feature is the Blueberry Pie, which has an in-house short crust bursting with plump, ripe blueberries picked in their prime and perfectly sweetened. It is finished with butter stars and a sprinkle of caramelized sugar.
