Photos: Progress continues on the Cake Shop coming to Disney’s Boardwalk

Previously, it was reported that the new restaurant will open in late 2023, but we’re getting closer to the opening of Gwendolyn Rogers’ Cake Bake Shop on Disney’s Boardwalk in Walt Disney World. Now set to open in early 2024, resort visitors can see visible progress on the exterior of the new restaurant.

Sama Rogers recently shared an update, and captioned her set of photos: “All of us at The Cake Bake Shop are eager to uncover the beautiful details and magic that comes with Disney’s BoardWalk! As excitement builds and our hearts overflow with anticipation, we look forward to opening our doors early next year to welcome you with an unforgettable dining experience. Stay tuned for more details leading up to our opening.”

After moving her family from Idaho to Indianapolis, Indiana, Gwendolyn Rogers began baking her delicious cakes, pies and desserts from her home. “Some of the best advice I’ve ever been given is to really take your time with your idea – work on it and see if people like what you’re doing.”

When she finally outgrew her kitchen and decided to open a retail store, The Cake Bake Shop was born. Gwendolyn, who converted a loft in Indianapolis, brought items from her home to lovingly decorate her first store. A longtime lover of department store windows, Gwendolyn used this inspiration to create a magical and inviting feel for her guests that included decorations like twinkling trees and her sons’ teddy bears. “I brought all my own Christmas decorations from home – and I didn’t have many – but I brought what I had to my shop.” Soon after, Gwendolyn’s Cake Bake Shop became popular with guests and quickly became a favorite place to celebrate special occasions. She then opened a second location in Carmel, Indiana. “To think that I can now bring this fun and happiness to Walt Disney World Resort – it’s such an incredible honor. I’ve been a Disney fan my whole life.”

Gwendolyn Rogers’ Cake Bake Shop, a new restaurant and bakery with service, is now opening early next year, replacing the former ESPN The Club at Disney’s Boardwalk at Walt Disney World.

Guests will enjoy savory and dessert menus, afternoon tea service, and a whimsical atmosphere that complements the charm of the idyllic charm of Disney’s BoardWalk.
