Decorated with edible flowers, this cake is not only delicious but also a feast for the senses.

INGREDIENTS

For the Cake:
  • 340 g leavening flour
  • 40 g bitter cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 230 g sugar
  • 200 g honey
  • 140 g orange marmalade
  • 280 ml milk
  • 280 ml sunflower oil
  • 4 large eggs
For the Chocolate Ganache:
  • 500 g semi-sweet chocolate
  • 500 g cream
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
Extras:
  • Oil and flour for the mold
  • Edible flowers for decoration

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Start by preheating your oven to 160°C (320°F) to ensure it’s ready for baking.
  2. Prepare the Mold:
Oil and flour a 24 cm diameter mold to prevent the cake from sticking.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, sugar, and baking soda.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients:
Incorporate the honey, orange marmalade, milk, and mix well to blend.
  5. Eggs and Oil:
Beat the eggs with the sunflower oil and gradually add to the mixture, ensuring a smooth consistency.
  6. Bake the Cake:
Pour the batter into the prepared mold and bake for one hour or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool:
Once baked, remove the cake and let it cool on a wire rack.

For the Chocolate Ganache:

  1. Chop and Heat:
Chop the chocolate, then heat the cream and pour it over the chocolate, stirring until melted and smooth.
  2. Mix with Honey:
Take 1/3 of the ganache, mix with honey, and set aside for the glaze.
  3. Cool for Filling:
Allow the rest of the ganache to cool, which will be used as the filling.

Assembling the Cake:

  1. Divide the Cake:
Cut the cake in half horizontally.
  2. Add Ganache Filling:
Spread the ganache filling on one half and then replace the top.
  3. Glaze the Cake:
Place the cake on a wire rack, reheat the glaze, and pour over the cake, ensuring it’s completely covered.
  4. Decorate:
Once the glaze has set, decorate with edible flowers for an exquisite finish.

A Touch of Wisdom:
In the midst of baking, remember the words of Julia Child, “A party without cake is just a meeting.” This Moist Orange + Chocolate Cake is not just a dessert; it’s a celebration of flavors, textures, and the joy of baking.

Enjoy baking this delightful Moist Orange + Chocolate Cake, a recipe guaranteed to bring smiles and satisfaction to any dessert table.
