That’s how a cookie crumbles, as the old saying goes, but now Crubl Cookies is taking center stage with a new store that opened earlier this month in Geneva.
The cookie shop at 1038 Commons Drive was filled with the aroma — baking cookies, that is — as Kane County Board members Bill Tarver of Batavia, Leslie Juby of Geneva and Michelle Gumz of Aurora joined Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns in welcoming the new business.
Gumz and Tarver both enjoyed the Salted Caramel Cheesecake.
“It was really good,” Tarver said between bites.
“I already had chocolate chips,” Gumz said. “It’s fantastic. I’ll probably have one more salted caramel – maybe – before I leave. Definitely a great place to stop. I’ll have to wear flip flops when I walk through.”
In the background, a team of workers prepared confections for the oven, while another worker measured ingredients behind the front counter.
That’s a lot of cookies.
“Ideally, some stores sell about 1,200 cookies a day,” Strom said. “It really depends on the location and the customer base and things of that nature.”
But with the grand opening of the Geneva location this weekend, much more is expected from the new store.
“We’re hoping to make about 6,000 cookies — that’s our projected amount,” Ashley said.
The cookies offered for the welcome event are what you would call normal size.
This is not the regular size cookie that Crumbl is famous for.
“They range anywhere from four ounces to five ounces,” Strom said.
And every cookie is different and each one can get a different topping that adds to the size.
“I like the way you think,” Gumz said.
Gumz said she will look into ordering Crumbl cookies as a treat at the county council meeting.
Crubl Cookies offers a variety of flavors. Other than milk chocolate chips and salted caramel cheesecake, according to its website, crumblecookies.comalso features Boston Cream Pie, Chocolate Chip Cookies and Cream, Pink Vanilla Cream Cheese Confetti Cake and Chocolate Swiss Roll.
